Playing down or up Policy
Playing Down-- If it is felt that a travel player should play down for development reasons, we provide info to ECYSA age group director and they will normally grant exception
- Playing Up is generally discouraged because keeping peers together and leading and being motivated by one another is an important dynamic for growth; and experience suggests that rather than leading to greater success, playing up can hurt confidence/growth/relationships. However:
- If a travel player wants to play UP with older age group, ECYSA will follow the recommendations of FYS. FYS policy requires board to approve an exception only after player has attended official assessments for the older age group and placed in the top 20% of the older group.
- for In-Town playing up requires officer or program director approval
